I’m Miss Rey.
I’m a Dominican artist, mother, and muse creating original work with markers on Bristol. My art is built through intuition, repetition, empathy, and the belief that there is always more to life than what is visible on the surface.
The goal is not to tell you exactly what to see. It is to give you enough space to find your own logic, understanding, and peace inside the piece.
Artist statement
More Than What Is Seen
I experience the world through observation, empathy and curiosity. I am fascinated by what exists beneath the obvious, from the emotions behind a person’s behavior to the craftsmanship of an everyday object or the quiet process of something growing.
When I create, I translate those perceptions into lines, shapes, colors and patterns. I react intuitively to the drawing as it develops, allowing one decision to lead to another until the experience becomes its own visual language.
My work asks the viewer to come closer. To pause, observe and become curious enough to discover something beyond their first impression. For that moment, outside distractions can disappear and the artwork becomes a place for thought, memory and emotion to surface.
Each drawing carries a piece of me, my patience, discipline, imperfections and love. I create as a way of contributing that love to the world, and as a record of what I was able to see, feel and leave behind.
